Be a part of the fun, outdoor community event geared toward restoring and repairing Lansing’s Northtown Neighborhood September 19-23.

Volunteer Apply for repairs

Rock the Block is a community event organized by Habitat for Humanity that brings neighbors together in an effort to restore historic homes and help those in need one neighborhood at a time. The week-long program usually draws around 300 local volunteers ready to put a little elbow grease into a variety of tasks. Whatever your niche may be, landscaping, porch repair, or painting there are projects available for people of all ages and interests.

Volunteers enjoy this program as an opportunity to see the community come together in a positive way. Participants are able to see neighbors get to know each other while making the neighborhood a better place for everyone.

Rock the Block this fall will include free energy audits from Consumers Energy and Board of Water and Light, as well as free dumpster ditch days. All other services offered to homeowners are offered through donated work and the cost of materials. Cristo Rey Community Center will also act as a partner and headquarters during the Rock the Block week in Northtown neighborhood as volunteers give back to our very own community. You can learn more about getting involved or participating in the program on the Habitat for Humanity website.
