  • Provide general oversight of the medical center day-to-day functions to maintain efficient daily practices
  • Provide primary support for medical providers to ensure adequate delivery of healthcare
  • Perform all credentialing requirements for providers
  • Ensure the health center adheres to healthcare safety measures for both patient and employee safety
  • Manage insurance contracts and ensure compliance with contracts
  • Maintain thorough communication with providers regarding QI measures, PQRS provider responsibilities, and Meaningful Use measures and how they affect providers work flow
  • Supervise Medical Assistants and Office Support Staff in the health center
  • Assist Care Coordinator with care management responsibilities as necessary, including calling patients as necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date records in collaboration with Human Resources of required trainings for health center staff, ensuring no lapse occurs in renewals
  • Assess cost/benefit practices in the health center by determining reimbursement rates for procedures performed frequently and educating providers on how to charge and document them. For example: smoking cessation education, depression screen, and vaccinations
  • Communicate with patients regarding inquiries and complaints and ensure patient satisfaction
  • Address and resolve any workplace concerns between coworkers
  • Supervise removal of medical waste in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Administer the sliding-fee-discount program and complete fee waiver paperwork
  • Assist the Lead Medical Assistant with maintenance and inventory of medical devices and equipment
  • Provide operational data to Medical Director, CEO, and Fund Development as needed
  • Liaise and collaborate with colleagues from other CRCC departments as a representative of the Medical Center
  • Maintain working relationship with Sparrow Billing and monitor claims to insurance
  • Maintain good rapport with various health programs (i.e., BCCCNP) in the community
  • Arrange for urgent and emergent maintenance visits for the clinic
  • Order office supplies
  • Accept, open, and distribute mail to providers
  • Supervise medical supply and medication donations from community entities
  • Organize and lead the annual staff retreat
  • Raise awareness of the Medical Center and the services offered to the community
  • Positively represent the Medical Center and the Cristo Rey Community Center as a whole
  • Other duties as assigned by the Medical Director


  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Accurate and detail oriented
  • Motivated self-starter, with excellent communication skills and a high level of integrity
  • Firm when making difficult, but necessary decisions
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Patient and compassionate with a high level of cultural competency
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish required

Education & Experience Required:

  • BLS Certified, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum 3 years working in an ambulatory health center
  • Minimum 3 years Administrative Assistant experience
  • Medical terminology proficiency preferred
  • Combination of education, experience, and or training equivalent to that which would be acquired through an associate’s degree
