Director of Counseling Services

– Administrative responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coordination, strategic planning, and day-to-day administration of the Counseling Services Department
  • Supervise and oversee all aspects of the program following Cristo Rey Community Center’s mission, demonstrated by setting program goals and objectives
  • Maintain State licensing standards and all other standards as set forth in all contractual agreements
  • Project, develop, and monitor revenues and expenses for the Counseling Services Department; work closely with the Finance Department to maintain the department’s budget
  • Implement and manage changes to ensure project goals and objectives are met for grants and special initiatives including producing accurate and timely reporting
  • Ongoing chart reviews to ensure compliance with Federal/State requirements

– Clinical responsibilities

  • Manage crisis situations effectively with collaboration from the rest of the management team. Weekend/evening hours may be necessary to respond to the crisis.
  • May maintain a part-time caseload of clients, including but not limited to intakes and assessments, crisis clients, individual/group therapy
  • Remain current in continuing education and professional development

– Supervision & training duties

  • Participate in the review and interview of candidates
  • Recommend hiring of staff
  • Provide clinical and administrative supervision
  • Complete performance evaluations, scheduling, promotion and corrective action of program staff
  • Ensure all licensing, continuing education, and professional standards are met by staff

– Promote a positive public relations image of Cristo Rey Community Center
– Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director

  • Must maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all circumstances with a commitment to treating others with respect
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office applications, customized databases, and billing software
  • Motivated self-starter, with excellent professional oral and written communication/listening skills, and a high-level of integrity
  • Must uphold a strict level of confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with persons from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
  • Must be comfortable working in a community based organization
  • Highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred

Education & Experience Request:

– Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field
– Current independent licensure in the state of Michigan must be maintained
– MCBAP credentials:

  • CAADC (required)
  • CCS (preferred; minimum requirement is eligibility for CCS within 12 months of hire)
  • CPS (preferred)

– Five years of experience in clinical mental health direct services, including experience providing clinical supervision and administrative management
– Three years of experience with Women’s Specialty Services with continuing education in the subject
